Shake, Shake, Shake, Senora!

From a very small age Jentry has absolutely loved having her nails painted.  I can remember the first time I attempted the task, and I was certain that it would not go smoothly.  Who would think a two-year-old would stand still long enough to have her nails painted let alone long enough to let them sufficiently dry?  The idea of pink paint on everything she touched was not exactly appealing to me.  Well, she did it and did it so well that we have continued to paint our nails on almost a weekly basis.  I should know by now that she will never cease to surprise me!  After our first nail session, I held her wrists and began to shake them to help speed up the drying process.  I sang the song "Jump In The Line" by Harry Belafonte.  This song was in one of my favorite childhood movies, Beetlejuice.  Anyway, the lyrics are something like this:

Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake your body line
Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake it all the time
Work, work, work, Senora, work your body line
Work, work, work, Senora, work it all the time

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time) OK, I believe you!
(Jump in de line, rock your body in time) OK, I believe you!
(Jump in de line, rock your body in time) OK, I believe you!
(Jump in de line, rock your body in time) Whoa!

Jentry loved it and since then she insists we sing the song every time.  She has even learned some of the words and is singing along with me.  What started out as a silly attempt of mine to keep Jentry's interest long enough for her nails to dry has become a tradition.  I am sure that anyone watching would think we were crazy.  Just two girls dancing, shaking and singing in the kitchen with freshly painted, pink nails.
