Surprise Talent

One afternoon, I was just randomly scrolling through social media when I came across the following post from our school music department. My eyes were instantly drawn to a name I recognized well.

The talent show was only a three days away and I had no idea that Mason had signed himself up for the competition. I immediately asked Mason what talent he planned to perform and he said, "Oh I'm going to play the piano and sing."  I had not once heard him practicing said talent and was starting to sweat. I thought this could go very very badly, however true to Mason's nature he was as confident as ever.

Saturday came and he prepared his costume to go along with his song selection, "Yankee Doodle Dandy".

He was the youngest contestant and chose a simple piece, but I have to say...he nailed it! I am willing to bet this will not be the last time we see this kid on stage. He just loves the spotlight.

Fun at 40

We got to celebrate 40 years of life with Nathan on October 6th.  He requested egg-in-a-hole for breakfast and football appetizers for supper. The Husker win was a gift!

This man has been through a great deal in his 40 years and I cannot wait to see what he accomplishes in his second half of life.

Let the fun begin!

Glass Beach

We ushered the month of September both in and out with long weekends at the lake.

Just a couple piglets playing in the mud.

Finally got to enjoy the new hot tub!

Good night brother moon.

Good morning sister sun.

The boys love to explore and search for treasures in the remains of the old Republican City. They named it "glass beach" due to the significant amount of glass that has washed ashore. Most of the glass has been smoothed by years of being tossed about in the waves.

Unfortunately, while Mason was squishing his feet into the mud at the water's edge, he stepped on a piece of glass with a sharp edge. After a long walk and golf cart ride back to the cabin, leaving a trail of blood, we determined it best to have a professional clean and stitch the cut. The Alma clinic was just closing for the day and so I carried him, literally, down the long hall to the Hospital ER. He was very brave and handled the pain courageously.

Fall Ball and HoCo

Our September was spilling over with fall sports.

Mason participated in Youth Football and enjoyed playing QB and Defensive Back for the JV team. We (meaning mostly Nathan) taxied him to 3 practices a week. We also spent Sunday afternoons watching the Varsity and JV games.

Jentry had another year of huge personal growth playing volleyball for the Fillies. She played outside hitter as well as back row and her serves are getting stronger. It was a heavy travel season.  All but 3 games were away!

My niece, Anna, played on the SV JH VB team. Unfortunately, I did not get to see her play in person but heard that she did very well.  She tells me softball is still her favorite, however.

My nephew, Isaac, is running Cross Country for the SV Eagles this year and was awarded the honor of Sophomore HoCo Royalty.

Jentry attended Sutton's HoCo dance with her classmates and looked gorgeous in her blue dress and fabulous heels.

Sophomore Stunners

Mason and Nathan scored a fabulous fall day to cheer the Huskers on to a win in Memorial Stadium.
