Housework In Heels

Who says you can't do housework in heels?  Thanks to my friend Lilian, who gifted these fabulous pink pumps to Jentry, we can now see that it is absolutely doable.  Jentry loves wearing her high heels, and I still have her convinced that cleaning is fun. (Hopefully this lasts for several more years.)  I guess if work must be done then you might as well look good doing it.  Besides heels are good for toning, so I'm told.

Jentry even did a little deep cleaning....
....of her ears!

Jesus Rose From The Grave!

This year I attempted to teach Jentry the true meaning of Easter so that she did not simply associate the day with a big, and in my opinion scary, bunny.  After only a few teaching sessions of asking her "What is Easter?", Jentry would proudly tell anyone and everyone who asked "Jesus rose from the grave!"  I realize that she really has no understanding of what this truly means, but I guess it is a start.

Sunday started with church service.  Jentry was very excited to wear her new Easter shoes but was not so thrilled about having to wear a dress with tights.
We celebrated with lunch at the Hamilton's and Jentry had a blast playing with her cousins and hunting eggs.
A rare picture of me with Jentry! Thank you, Nathan.

Uncle Paul, Aunt Jaymie, Cousin Breanne and Granny Mary drove down from Burt County.

Aunt Jaymie even brought the fixings to dye eggs.

Grandma Bose said that Issac was old enough, but Jentry was not quite able to be helpful so she helped Papa put together the dinosaur egg holders instead.

Jentry with her orange egg.  According to Jentry, "Orange is my favorite!"

The day was a little cloudy and cool but we still got some outside time.

Issac's Grandpa and Grandma Hamilton were also there and we celebrated Anna's 1st Birthday with a purple flower cake and icecream.  My sister made the cake and it was fabulous!  Unfortunately I did not get pictures of the cake, because I was busy helping Jentry change out of her awful tights.

All things considered it was an EGGcellent day of family and celebration.  Alleluia, Jesus rose from the grave!

"Cousins are a little bit of childhood that can never be lost."

The Saturday before Easter Jentry spent the day with her cousins Isaac and Anna.  They always have so much fun and I am very thankful that they live so close.  It is not easy to entertain a three, two and one-year-old all day....just ask Grandma, but they had a blast doing all kinds of things.

Reading books...
Being silly on the stairs....
Keeping Anna away from the stairs...
Giving hugs...

Mowing the lawn...
Shooting hoops...
Laughing at Grandma attempting to shoot hoops...
 Golfing...
And building sand rocks?.....

At the end of the day Jentry did not want to say goodbye.  Isaac didn't want her to leave either. Chad says, "Why? All you do is fight with each other anyway!" :-)  I have to admit, learning to share is not always easy.  I guess it is a love hate relationship.

New House….New Tree

During our visit to Harlan County last weekend we got to see my Aunt Sonja and Uncle Bob and the progress of their new lake home.  I can not believe home much work they have done since we were last there in December.  While we were getting the grand tour, Jentry stole my camera and took a few pictures.  I have to say it is quite an interesting view from three feet.

As with most new homes, there are very few trees in the yard, so my Aunt and Uncle decided to purchase some fruit trees and have each one of the little kiddos plant a tree in their name.  Jentry had tons of fun planting her Braeburn Apple Tree.  As you can see, she actually did most of the work herself....with a little help from the adults.

A little dirt on top

Little more dirt and water

Little more water

Now we can just pray that it survives the Nebraska winds!

Girly Grandma Time

Even though Jentry spent some time with Papa in the feed truck last weekend, she also got some quality time doing some more "girly" activities with Grandma.

Like preparing for Easter.

Smelling the flowers.

Taking a stroll through town in the Radio Flyer.

And soaking in a nice, hot, bubble bath.

They also did a little sun bathing in the 90 degree weather, but Jentry only lasted about two minutes so I didn't get a photo.  I am sure Grandma is thankful for that!

Tractors and Trucks

On the complete other side of the spectrum from pink, painted nails, Jentry loves tractors and trucks of any kind, however she is somewhat partial to trash trucks.  Personally, I think it is just the most fun to say. Either way, she is very quick to point them out when drive in the car.  She also regularly chooses the tractor/truck stickers out of the sticker pile that includes many other "girly" options.  I think that her Papa is somewhat responsible for this tractor/truck craze, because whether it is in a book, on the road or on a sheet of stickers she usually attempts to find one "just like Papa's."

This past weekend, Papa got another chance to spoil Jentry and further influence her love for tractors and trucks.  Jentry and I made the trip to “Far Far Away” (Orleans) on Friday night.  Saturday morning Papa asked Jentry if she would like to help him feed the cows.  Of course, she was very excited and quickly gathered her shoes and coat.  I also began to gather my shoes when my mother quietly explained to me that Papa was hoping that he could take Jentry all by himself.  I guess he had had a conversation with mom about it the night before and she explained how excited he was that Jentry was finally old enough to go with him alone.  This of course was fine with me, because that meant I could stay in my pajamas and sip coffee with mom!  Yeah!

I asked my dad if he wanted to take my car or if I should move Jentry’s car seat to his pick-up.  He looked at me as if I was crazy.  He said “It’s only two miles. Does she really have to have her car seat?”  Only on the farm!  I guess I have to remember that Papa is from another generation.  I regress.  Off they went to feed the cows.  When they returned Jentry was covered from head to toe in silage, but I was just thankful that she was still in one piece.  That evening Papa let me ride along with them.  Jentry (as if she had done this a thousand times) explained to me the steps you must take to feed the cows properly.  What I really learned was that after they were out the door that morning, sans mom and car seat, Papa continued to spoil his precious little girl and further manipulated her love for tractors and big trucks.

To prove my case, I would like to submit the following pictures as evidence.

Papa and Jentry ready to head out!

Papa letting Jentry drive the old feed truck that was on its last leg when I was Jentry's age 25 years ago. Yikes!

Front row seat watching the cows eat.

Watching Papa rescue the calf on the wrong side of the fence.

And as my closing argument you will see that this manipulation began at a very young age and is also color specific!

Case Closed! Or should I say John Deere Closed?
