Some Bunny is One

My baby bunny is celebrating his 1st Birthday today.

What an amazing year it has been. Oh the things you have learned...and the gifts you have given us.

Happy Birthday Buddy Boy! We love you the whole world. May God bless you with many many more.

Golf

A passion for golf is definitely evident in the McKenzie genes. Maybe it is the Scottish heritage. I clearly married into the family, as I have never even had the desire to swing a club. I do enjoy a ride in the cart if the weather conditions are favorable, but that is about the extent of my zeal. Mason, however has no choice. He is destined to learn and love the game.

I just hope he didn't inherit my talent... or lack there of. If he can keep up with his dad, Grandpa John and Grandma Jan he will do well.

Spring Fever

I'll admit I have definitely had a touch of Spring fever this year, however I didn't mean to invite any actual fevers into our home. Unfortunately, 3 out of the 4 members in our family have been ill so far this month. Even though we have been battling sickness we have definitely been enjoying this unusually warm March.

Mason is working on his balance and is thrilled to be experiencing the great outdoors.  Giving every new thing a taste test is a must.

Jentry loves the park and could spend hours playing in the sandpit.

I would highly recommend having and older child so that you no longer have to push the littles on the swings.

Mason even received his first grilling lesson from dad.

Looks like Mason had some advice of his own to give to dad!

Ah Spring, how we welcome you with open arms...but next year you can keep the fever to yourself.

Vintage Vixen

Last weekend we managed to pull off a surprise party for my mother-in-law, Jan. Although we share the same birth date, our birth year is in fact different. Hopefully this is not too shocking. This year she turned 60 so John, Nathan and I felt that we needed to plan something special. Even though she kept telling us that she did not want a party.

Our theme was Vintage Vixen. We needed to keep the decor simple as we hid everything in the back office of the country club until the guests started to arrive. We told Jan to meet us at the golf course for a drink and then we would head on to York for supper at a new Mexican restaurant.

My mom was the first guest to arrive and we played it off like she was just in town to bring me my birthday gift and was going to join us for supper. The second guest to arrive was Jan's sister, Deb, and then she started to get suspicious. When the third guest arrived she knew that she had been had. It was just as we planned.

Jentry had a blast helping with the center pieces and did a phenomenal job at keeping the secret. She even told Jan that she was going to order nachos at the restaurant. Actually...I'm a little concerned at how well she lied. When we first told Jentry about the surprise party, I was stressing to her that she could not say anything about it to Jan.  She said, "I know who you should tell....Mason, he is really good at keeping secrets."

Jan is not much of a dessert eater and I knew she would not want a cake, so we made a 60 candle cake via a little inspiration from Pinterest. I really was not sure if we should even attempt lighting it, however we did and the country club is still standing. Yay!

Later in the night, Jan got some pretty funny gifts from friends and then someone had the fabulous idea to suck the helium out of the balloons. To say that we had a good time is a vast understatement. I also have some very incriminating photos and videos for just the right occasion.

The next morning was our actual birth day. Nathan, Jentry, Mason and my mom were there to help me celebrate with some awesome gifts, scrumptious cake, beautiful flowers and of course party poppers. It was perfect.

Thank you God for another fabulous trip around the sun. May we have many more!
