Learning to Swim

Jentry started swimming lessons at the YMCA this month.  She loves the water and thinks it is great fun to splash around.  Since the class starts at 4:45 pm I am not able to pick up Jentry and get her to lessons in time, so every Tuesday Dad is in charge of swimming lessons.  Additionally, the class requires that an adult be in the water with Jentry.  I was less than excited about putting on a bathing suit in the dead of winter, to say the least!

I may be somewhat biased, but as I watched Jentry and the other students I was quite impressed with Jentry's abilities.  She was the only student who listened to the instructor and actually attempted to kick and paddle.  One poor little guy wouldn't even let his father carry him into the pool!  Not my independent little Jentry...she had no fear jumping in the water from the side of the pool and was the first to go down the slide.

On the day of lessons, Joey promised Jentry that they could go to McDonald's after lessons if she was good and listened to the instructor.  When she got home I asked her what she got to do with daddy and she excitedly announced, "We went to Old McDonald's!"  I guess fast food with a toy was more exciting than the pool.

Beans for Breakfast....Please!

This morning the first words out of Jentry's sleepy mouth were "I want noodles......Please!"  Jentry loves pasta of any kind and while she was sick last week, I allowed her to have chicken noodles anytime she wanted.  I think she got in the habit of mommy bringing her whatever she desired whenever she asked.  Instead of testing her two year old temper by simply saying no, I compromised by allowing her noodles for breakfast if she would quickly get dressed and ready for daycare.

She quickly agreed and got dressed in record time.  I took her to the kitchen and set out two different kinds of noodle soup in cans.  She did not want either one so I said "You will just have to wait and eat breakfast at daycare then with your friends."  No, of course she was not going to accept that!  She then stood in front of the pantry and finally pointed to a can of baked beans.  "I want those....beans."  I asked her if she was sure and she was.  I opened and heated a can of baked beans at 7:00 am.  She proudly ate every last bean in her little pink bowl and happily went to daycare.

The Children's Museum

This Sunday Jentry and I spent the afternoon at the Children's Museum here in Lincoln.  Jentry had been there a few times with daycare, but I had never taken her myself.  We had so much fun!  Jentry did not want to leave, but finally they kicked us out at closing time.

Very serious work!

Very Sick Little Girl

I received a call from daycare last Monday and they said that Jentry was sick and need to go home.  I did not get the message right away so they also called her dad.  He was already on his way to pick her up when I got back to my office.  I am sure that he was feeling like super dad up until the point that Jentry threw-up all over his truck on the way to my house.  I jokingly said, "Better your car than mine!"  For some reason I don't think he saw the humor in the situation.

I was hoping that since it was Valentine's Day she had just consumed too many sweets.  Boy was I wrong!  Jentry continued to be sick with flu like symptoms and ran a fever the rest of the week.  She mostly slept which allowed me to get a few things done, but most of my week was spent nursing a very sick little girl.

Finally on Friday she was acting like my playful little girl again.  I am so thankful she is better and very appreciative of the good health we have been given.

Hollywood

Here are a few pictures of Miss Hollywood that, in my opinion, capture her personality rather well!

These are pictures that Jentry's dad sent to me while I was home not feeling well.
She sure can brighten the day!
