Granny and the Disappointing Zoo

Last Summer we were unable to see my Granny Mary due to Covid, so this year it was priority that we visit her before Jentry flew to Florida for the Summer.

We stayed at our favorite Maxwell House in Tekamah and enjoyed some much needed visiting and hugs. Granny gave us a tour of her amazing yard and she even brought a vase of her beautiful flowers for us to enjoy. We were even able to celebrate my Uncle Paul's 65th Birthday with a special birthday breakfast.

Saturday we headed to the Omaha Zoo. Mason was fairly young last time we were there, so I thought it would be a fun thing to experience again. Unfortunately, they were back to full capacity and didn't have enough staff. Parking was crazy! After finally entering the gates we headed to the Jungle but only got about 50 feet in and had to evacuate due to a fire alarm. Then the Aquarium closed right as we were about to enter it and the line to the Dome was very long. It took 45 minutes to get our lunch as the food stands were understaffed. We attempted the Jungle again before leaving but missed it by 20 minutes. Talk about disappointed! If it were not for a kind employee listing to my complaints and gifting us complimentary admission and ride tickets for a future visit, I would say it was a complete bust. Papa said we saw more human animals than wild animals!

It was one of those days where I wanted to act like a child in my discontent, but I did my best to set a good example for my kids and make the best of a bad situation.

We stayed in a hotel near the airport and the kids got to swim a bit before bedtime. Jentry and I got up at 4am and I said goodbye as she flew off to Florida by herself. Just a few tears were shed by her mother.

It was a marathon weekend and I was so grateful to have my parents their to help out. Hopefully we made a few fond memories.

Big Dog

Mason's first baseball season was two years ago and consisted of a few chaotic practices and a couple t-ball games.

Last year he was unable to participate due to Covid.

This year he is jazzed up and ready to play coach-pitch.

His first game went very well. He was 3 out of 4 at bat, ran in several points and played right field like a beast.

He informed me that his nick name is "Big Dog". Of course that is what his team would call him as he is clearly the smallest player on the field.

I see foresee many years of watching this kid play ball.
Go get 'em lucky #1!

School's Out

Last day of 7th and 1st Grades.

Per tradition, we had doughnuts for breakfast at the bakery.

After school Mason and I celebrated at Sweet Treat.
Jentry went to her friend Addison's for a sleepover/birthday party.

Let the Summer vibes roll in!

Laird McKenzie

Tucker's daycare happened to be closed on Papa John's birthday, so he got to bring him a sweet treat birthday lunch.

We gifted him a small piece of property in Scotland, so now we are to officially refer to him as Laird McKenzie. Our wish is that one day he will be able to visit it in person!

Saturday Night at the Pond

Our friends, the Baumann's, have the best little fishing hole in all the county. Mason had a blast reelin' them in last Saturday evening.

Celebration of Dance

After hours, weeks, months of practice; our tiny dancer finally got her moment on the stage. It was an amazing performance and she had lots of grandparents there to see her shine.

Hip Hop

Ballet

Jazz

Only one missing is Duane!

We could not be more proud of this girl and all her dancing accomplishments this season.
