Father's Day Fishing

We asked Papa John what he wanted to do for Father's Day and he wanted to spend time at the lake!

I believe his intent was to be able to spend time with my father too, but unfortunately my father's social schedule is rather extensive these days.

Dad and Mom traveled to Northern Nebraska to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of some long-time friends.

After temps over 100 degrees during the week, the weather was perfect and we even got some much needed rain on Saturday night.

Mason thought we needed a firepit, so Papa John let us have an old tractor wheel. Beware, the next generation of McKenzie pyros has sparked.

Saturday morning we walked down the trail to North Cove and did a little fishing. The morning sun coming over the cove created some mystical lighting.

Saturday was hot but overcast which made for a perfect afternoon at the beach.

The boys made "tie" cards and were excited to assist Nathan with is gift of new tools.

Sunday afternoon our neighbors invited Nathan and Mason to go fishing on their boat and Mason ended up snagging 7 fish!

To quote my sister, Happy Father's Day to my hard working, fun loving, talented dad who has always loved is girls well.

And Happy Father's Day to the multiple father figures who love me and my children so very well!

CWHL

I have been growing my hair out since the last part of 2019. Then Covid it made it even easier to avoid the salon 2020.

With temps > 100 degrees this June, I decided it was time for a chop.

I was able to mail 10 inches into Children With Hair Loss and boy did it feel great!

The CWHL program has been so great for Jentry and I am thrilled to be able to support their efforts.

American Summer

Last weekend I took Tucker and Mason to the lake while Nathan enjoyed golfing with friends at the Stockham tournament.

The first night we met up with Aunt Kelly for dinner at the Station in Alma. Then she was able to join us for the golden hour on the deck, while Mason served as night guard for the hot pool.

Meanwhile, my cousin Tara and her two adorable children were traveling to Nebraska all the way from Zimbabwe. By Saturday we were all soaking up the sun lakeside. I was so happy that we were able to meet up and spend some quality time. Even though we do not see them often we can always pick right back up where we left off.

Tara asked, "Is this not the stereotypical American Summer?" Old Glory flying high over backyard sprinklers, while kids shriek with joy.

After a day of some serious water play, I promised the boys we could have dinner on the deck at the marina. They had great fun feeding fries to the fish below. When it was time to leave Tucker said, "But we didn't see the ballerina!" It took me a bit but finally I realized when I said marina he heard ballerina!

On Sunday we all attended the Bose family picnic in Orleans. It is very neat to be a part of such a large and rich family history.

Sunday afternoon we beached it at Gremlin Cove. The kids had so much fun I had to pry them away at nearly 6PM!

We rolled by into Sutton around 9PM as a hot mess express.
Harlan County done sucked us in again.
We packed a ton of fun into a few short days, but man was it worth it!

Oh and I even managed to paint the master bedroom at the cabin somewhere in between all that fun.

Santa on Vacation

You will never guess who we ran into at Subway in Alma, NE.

Santa Clause on vacation!

Don't believe me?

Here is proof.

After several minutes of Tucker staring at the man, he bravely asked, "Are you Santa?"

Mason was more skeptical and asked many questions including, "Where is your sleigh?"
Santa explained that he was on summer vacation and was driving a rental car.
Mason went as far as checking out his license plates in the parking lot!

Santa generously bought them both a chocolate chip cookie and told them to be good boys and stay on the nice list.

What a special day!

Memorial Day Weekend

We were fortunate enough to spend our first holiday weekend at the cabin with our dear friends, the Nelson Family.

The adults enjoyed the first night sans children and then the chaos, I mean sweet darlings, joined us for the second and third nights.

The weather was cooler and rainy most of Sunday but that did not stop us from creating some massive sand projects.

The weather kept us off of the lake but the hot tub was a huge hit!

Beach play, adventure walks, golf, dominos, movies, ball, tasty treats, grilled grub, mud madness, pizza, card games and many memories made!

Monday we were able to join Grandma and Papa Bose for a special 46th Wedding Anniversary lunch in Orleans.
