This IS My First Rodeo

Papa Bose had the privilege of taking Mason to is first rodeo this weekend. They attended the Oregon Trail Rodeo in Hastings and had THE best time. Mason even suckered Papa into buying him a Ford toy truck by ensuring Papa that if he got the truck then he would always remember his very first rodeo experience with him. What can I say, this kid has some serious sales skills.

One Last Splash

Jentry had a summer that frankly I am a bit jealous of. She had so many fun events, celebrations and experiences that were cram packed with all things summer.

Saturday Jentry and her besties made one last summer splash at Lake Lovewell. These six have been inseparable since the beginning of 5th grade. Experience tells me this may not always be the case but even so they have bonded and will forever cherish the memories made.

Oh to be 11 with zero responsibilities and a rock solid tribe.

School Days

And thus begins yet another school year...

Jentry - 6th - Mr. Gerber
Mason - Kindergarten - Mrs. Roth
Tucker - 20 months - Miss Melisa

Only one of Mason's sunflower seeds from Mrs. Roth survived our wet growing season but my oh my did it grow! Nine feet tall and a dozen blooms...it must be time for school to begin.

The bus finally arrived at 8:05 and I cried a few "sadappy" tears as my babies boarded and drove away. Then I happily sipped on my coffee at my desk in the silence. Life is good!

Ok My Boji

For several years we have been attempting to plan a vacation with Nathan's parents. Because they live only 10 minutes away and Nathan works in their yard daily, we spend time with them often but only in few hour increments and rarely overnight.

We wanted an opportunity for all seven of us to spend several days together to cultivate a different kind of family experience away from home and work.  As they say, to really know a person you should travel with them.

There is a special bond that happens when your child gets to have breakfast with papa or have grandma read them their bedtime story. When mom and dad can bask in the lightweight feeling of extra hands. A shared relaxation takes place when mom and grandma exchange thoughts over the quiet of afternoon naps. Conversations go a step deeper when the adults and oldest child stay up a bit later than usual and visit under the stars.

Of course, this also means being away from our comfort zones which can be challenging for all. BUT...it can also be very educational. One can learn a great deal about oneself and others when uncomfortable. One becomes much more appreciative, grateful and empathetic.

Last December, Onnie found an amazing three bedroom condo overlooking Lake Okoboji. She booked four nights at the beautiful Waterfront Resort that included fabulous dining, indoor waterpark, outdoor pools, playground, water sports and a zipline. The dates were right before school began and it was the perfect way to wrap an amazing summer in a perfect bow.

Boji Splash was a blast and Jentry talked each adult into braving the big slide with her.

John and Nathan took in a round of golf at Brooks Golf Club.

Iowa Cooler

Arnold's Park Amusement Park was like a step back in time. It was just the right size with fun rides for all sizes. The park was clean, nicely landscaped and a perfect place to spend the afternoon.

Despite being in Iowa, Lake Okoboji was a fantastic family vacation destination. As Mason hilariously refered to it, Ok My Boji, thank you for the memories.
