Ah Fall

Last Thursday Jentry got out of school at 2:00 and had no school on Friday, so I took the day off and we headed west. Nathan worked Friday and then headed east to the football game in Lincoln, so this time it was a girls only trip.

One of my main goals was to get Jentry into the combine with Papa.  Last year Papa was done harvesting before we made it to Harlan County.  I guess the new, bigger, faster machines make farming just a little too efficient!

Grandma taking Jentry and Isaac to meet Papa in the field.

In they go!

Out they come with big smiles.

I even got to ride along for the last pass of the 2013 bean harvest.

Jentry always has tons fun with her cousins. They are finally getting to age where they will disappear and play for hours. Grandma still feels that we should check on them more often, but Kelly and I just still back and enjoy the peace. We figure if something goes wrong we will be hearing about it from one of them.

Apparently the game they were playing required them to be shirtless.

A second reason we decided to go to Orleans was to take part in the annual Apple-fest. We loaded up on candy during the morning parade and then purchased some goodies at the craft show.

Jentry even got to be painted into a monkey.

The kids briefly played in the corn but quickly decided it was too cold and windy, so we headed back to Grandma's to warm up while watching a great Husker win. It was a perfect fall weekend in Harlan County with our fabulous family.

Sunday we headed back east and met up with the birthday boy in Hastings for a yummy lunch at Hunan's. Nathan is now officially beginning the fourth decade in his life. Wait...never mind... that sounds much too old. Nathan turned 30 on Sunday and is very much looking forward to the next 30 years. I believe he enjoyed a nice, relaxing day of watching football and grilling steaks with family. May he have many many more!
