Bye Bye Bullet

At first, I was in denial and tried to convince myself that Tucker's ever worsening mullet was cute. As time went on and the baby mullet or "bullet", as Nathan referred to it, grew longer and more ridiculous, I slowly came to accept that it was no longer cute but horrendous. 

Papa Bose and Onnie both kindly expressed their concerns and subtly suggested we give Tuck a trim.

It was time for this mama to face reality and schedule an appointment.

Megan, the stylist and family friend at Midtown Hair Studio, did a fabulous job and assured me that I needn't be so precious about my baby's first haircut.

Tucker did a great job of sitting still while I kept him occupied with puffs. The end result was a whole new, even more handsome baby boy. 

My Head Tells Me Things

New and Exciting

I got to ring in 2019 with my favorite boys. 

My couch, my cozy blanket, my jammies, my glass of wine. It was perfection!

I am usually enthusiastic about the fresh start of a new year but this year I felt especially eager. Perhaps it is because I chose to spend the last 90 days of 2018 bettering myself. I wanted to roll into 2019 with a roaring fire.

In my teens and twenties I dreaded the cold, boring days of January but now I long for the slow down. January is my opportunity to reflect on the gifts and blessings of the holiday season. A chance to sip my coffee and carefully study each holiday card received. 

A time to box up the old and make neat order of the new. Relish in my children's excitement while they discover a new toy.

Reflect on achievements made and set goals for the next 365.

Jentry - Age 10

On the last day of 2018, my girlfriend asked me what are 5 things I am most excited about:
1. Decluttering the house from all the holiday extras
2. Back to routines
3. Filing in my new planner/calendar
4. Writing my list of 2019 goals
5. Eating healthy foods again after all the holiday goodness

Some may be quickly discourage with new year's resolutions and feel they are a waste of time.

I, however, look forward knowing I have more wisdom and great hope. All I desire to be is better than the day before and THAT is very attainable.

I absolutely love the Christmas traditions that our family has created over the years. It is easy to get weighed down in the holiday hustle, but this year I reminded myself to only do the things that bring us joy and elevate the celebration of Jesus birth. 

God sent me the same sermon both at church in Sutton on the 23rd and again at Christmas Eve service in Orleans. Apparently, He was ensuring I received His message.

Love came down at Christmas,

Love all lovely, Love divine;

Love was born at Christmas,

Star and angels gave the sign.
