A Very Wintry Halloween

Shockingly, Jentry wanted to be Elsa for Halloween. I assured her that she would be the only little Elsa in all the world on Halloween night. Ha! Grandma Jan purchased her the most amazing Elsa dress complete with Elsa wig. Of course, Jentry had to try it on right away. She was in heaven. Or, should I say Norway?

Watch out! She may turn you to ice.

The weekend before Halloween, Elsa got to attend the Stamford bonfire and costume contest with Anna and Olaf.  What a trio!

Mason wasn't quite big enough to keep up with the "big" cousins, but thoroughly enjoyed playing with his very own pumpkin.

Jentry's teacher, Miss Dirks, asked me to bring a snack for the 1st Grade Halloween party. I had a great time making these fun little treats. Nathan now refers to me as Penny Pinterest.

The night before Halloween we took the time to carve some pumpkins. Jentry began by drawing a face herself, but then changed her mind and selected a very neat, very detailed stencil. Which meant, Nathan ended up carving Jentry's pumpkin for her. She loved her Dracula so much that she insisted on going out in the cold to give it one last kiss goodnight. She is just a little weird.

Do you wanna carve a pumpkin?

Halloween morning, Jentry requested an orange, ghost pancake with chocolate chips. I did my best, however I'm really thankful ghost pancakes are only requested once a year.

The Sutton Mustangs had a football game in Sutton on Halloween night, so they held a "Trunk or Treat" in the parking lot before the game. I decided to go with a Christmas theme to match my adorable little snowman. It was a hit and more importantly I had a ton of fun.

Merry Christmas...wait, no...Happy Thanksgiving...wait, no...this year is going too fast all on its very own.

To Everything There Is A Season

Nebraska is known for its extreme weather, which to some makes the state less than an ideal place to reside. On a blistering 110 degree day with the dirt blowing in your face or a negative 20 degree morning with snow as deep as your car door, I would have to agree.  However, sometimes....just sometimes...we get a change of the seasons like this year and it is absolutely remarkable. We have had some top 10 days this month and here are a few of my favorite shots that captured the pure beauty of fall in Nebraska.

Nothing like your very first taste of fresh cut grass.

I don't think Nathan enjoyed my choice of a Fireball before the game as much as I did.

A Sunday afternoon at the Fox Hollow Golf Course was just what my soul needed. I closed my eyes, felt the sun on my face and warm breeze in my hair. I tried to memorize the exact feeling so that when winter finally settles in, I can close my eyes again and take myself back to that fabulous fall day.

"Um, I think you missed a stroke dad."

First swing of a club with Grandpa Mack.

My mom sent me these pictures of her beautiful autumn purple ash trees. I just love the foggy morning capture. Oh the colors!

Last year the seasons went from summer to winter and the foliage was pretty much nonexistent, which makes this year all the more spectacular.

It's Fall Y'all

I love this time of year. For some reason I always feel like fall brings a bit of slow down...a chance for me to take a deep breath and soak in life. Which is really a great thing when your life consists of...

An adorable, travel size Husker fan.

Memorial Stadium with your best friend...and eighty thousand or so other people.

A Van Gogh in the making.

Your baby lovin' on your other baby.

Passing around a precious pigskin.

A very handsome husband.

School pictures...with jackets. Yes, that's right I said with jackets!

Selfies with a blue-eyed stud muffin.

A birthday to celebrate another amazing year of a wonderful man's life.

Milestone moments that melt your heart.

And two pieces of your very own, personal sunshine.

It Had Been Wiggling For A Month

Jentry finally lost her first tooth last Friday. It had been loose since the end of July!  We happened to be at my parents' house when she came running up from the basement. "MOM, MOM....I can feel the bottom of my tooth!" I took one look at the little white tooth hanging by a skin and said, "If you can feel the bottom then get that thing out." Sure enough one little tug and pop...out she came. Jentry squealed and jumped up and down. She was so excited!

Luckily, the Tooth Fairy was aware of Jentry's location at Grandma and Papa's. She even left an envelope and blank note for Jentry to send her a special message.

Jentry claims she didn't see her but apparently the Tooth Fairy came, because the next morning the note and tooth were gone and in their place was a special gold dollar!

One tooth down and 19 to go!
I find it quite ironic that I have one baby losing her teeth while another is attempting to grow his in.

Future Foodie

Mason had his first taste of cereal last night and boy oh boy did he take to the spoon like a natural. We think he is going to be a foodie for sure!

He also loves to help mama bake. Just wait 'till he can have some batter on that spatula! Nom nom nom

Chef in training.
